Hannah Semeraro
Lecturer in Audiology at the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research, University of Southampton.
Hannah Semeraro is a clinically trained Audiologist at the Hearing and Balance Centre (HABC), University of Southampton, and has been registered with the Registration Council for Clinical Physiologists (RCCP) since 2012. Her research is focussed on improving occupational hearing assessment measures to ensure they accurately predict whether employees have adequate hearing ability to carry out their job safely and effectively. Semeraro has worked with the Ministry of Defence, listening to sounds on the battlefield to identify important signals and interfering noise. Using this information she has designed an alternative auditory fitness for duty assessment tool that is currently being validated.
Semeraro teaches undergraduate and postgraduate Audiology modules, including clinical skills and research project supervision. As the Admissions Tutor she regularly visits schools and colleges to deliver career talks and interactive hearing science sessions to encourage more students to embark on a career in Audiology.
